Budget increase request to facilitate procurement of assets, says Defence Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR: The application to increase the defence budget for 2023 to 1.5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will facilitate planning for asset acquisition, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

However, The Senior Minister (Security) said it depends entirely on the state of the country's economy and discussions with the Finance Ministry and agencies responsible for looking at the total amount available for national development.
