Man nabbed for criminal defamation against PM's private secretary

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested for criminal defamation against the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary.

In a text message to the media, Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the arrest was made on Wednesday (Sept 14).

“The man had been remanded for three days.

"Investigations are being conducted under the Penal Code for defamation and the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities,” he said Thursday (Sept 15).

It is believed that the man was arrested over blog posts late last year which made allegations about the cost of Datuk Nor Nazimah Hashim's attire.

News of the arrest had been circulating on social media earlier on Thursday.
