Bar loses in bid to review apex court verdict that it breached statutory duty

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Bar has lost its bid to review the Federal Court's decision that it breached its statutory duty when it allowed discussions on lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah's conduct while he was an ad hoc prosecutor in Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy II case.

A three-member panel of the Federal Court led by Justice Datuk Zabariah Mohd Yusof dismissed the Malaysian Bar's review application with no order as to costs after ruling that they were not satisfied it was a fit and proper case falling within the limited grounds and exceptional circumstances under which the power of review may be exercised.
