Gearing up for the future: Hybrids and electric vehicles will join the raft of cars on parade at the CarSifu Auto Show 2022 in Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR: The CarSifu Auto Show 2022 opens today with a raft of the latest cars on parade.
In tune with changing times, hybrids and a battery electric car are joining the crowded floor.
Hybrids have been around in Malaysia for years. They were followed by plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles (EVs) in recent times.
Toyota is showcasing its Corolla Cross Hybrid at its showcase.
The hybrid pairs a 1.8-litre engine with two electric motors for greater fuel efficiency, higher battery durability, and greater handling and stability.
Honda is also sporting its own hybrid in the form of the HR-V e:HEV RS.
The RS is the top-of-the-line in the four-variant HR-V range.
It is equipped with a two-motor system and a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine to achieve exciting driving performance with low fuel consumption.
Volvo has introduced the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, a premium sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The model also marks an important milestone in the local automotive industry as it is Malaysia’s first locally assembled EV.
The EV, with an electric motor on each axle, has an all-wheel-drive powertrain and a driving range of up to 418km from a 78kWh lithium-ion battery.
It promises a powerful performance as well as a smooth and quiet ride.
Other marques that are taking part in the auto show are Proton, Perodua, Nissan and Subaru.
The auto show is being held at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 5–9. Opening hours are from 10am to 10pm.
And for the first time, the CarSifu Auto Show will head out of the Klang Valley to Johor.
The Johor edition is taking place at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey, Johor Bahru from Oct 26–30.
The event, organised by Star Media Group, was last held in 2019 and put on hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
