MELAKA: A Chinese seaman was rescued off Pulau Undan here by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) after the 29-year-old suffered a heart attack.

MMEA Melaka/Negri Sembilan director Kapt Iskandar Ishak said his team rescued the crew member of the MV Newcastle Express cargo ship at 3.10am yesterday.

He identified the victim as Li Zhongguan, a Chinese national.

Iskandar said medical care was given at the location of the ship, which was sailing from Singapore to the Suez Canal.

“The victim was weak when he was sent to Hospital Melaka,” he said, adding the seaman was in stable condition.
