No surprise PAS is sticking with Perikatan, says Zahid

PETALING JAYA: It is no surprise that PAS is staying with Perikatan Nasional, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In a statement on Thursday (Oct 13) the Umno president said that the decision was "expected".

"Umno has never closed the door on any sincere effort to unite the ummah (community) based on the principles of honesty and sincerity.

"Umno and Barisan Nasional will now move forward and maintain a party image that is based on moderation and one that could offer stability and prosperity to the multi-ethnic and multi-religious people of this country," he said.

Earlier on Thursday, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced that the Islamist party would continue its partnership with Perikatan in the upcoming 15th General Election.
