GEORGE TOWN: The extensive flooding in certain areas in Batu Maung is because a six-metre-wide ditch beside a riverbank was closed, leaving only a one-metre-wide for water to flow into the drain, says MCA.

It said the state must face up to the fact as the area was flooded due to the closure of the ditch for flood mitigation works.
