A MALAY nurse from George Town, Penang, has no problem leaving her child with an Indian neighbour, reported Harian Metro.

Syahirah Khalid, 28, attracted the attention of netizens after uploading a TikTok video of her daughter cuddling up with Tiwali Amgamah, 61.

Syahirah said her neighbour, who is affectionately called Tiba, agreed to look after her seven-month-old daughter Nur Adelia Raisya when she failed to find a babysitter.

Her husband, Mohd Hafeez Harun, 32, lives in Manjung, Perak, with their three other children.

“Most babysitters refused to watch my daughter because they know I am a nurse and work three shifts,” she added.

Syahirah said one of her friends suggested she approach Tiba, who is often home alone during the day when her son is at work.

“After consulting with my husband, we decided to do so,” she said.

Syahirah said her daughter had got along very quickly with Tiba, who she described as a wonderful caregiver.

> Actress and singer Elly Mazlein said the celebrities who parodied the manner she hosted reality show Gegar Vaganza (GV) on social media should stop being “toxic”, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Elly, whose real name is Sharifah Aida Mazlina Syed Hanafi, described the parodies as immature and childish.

“I know I’m not a big name, and I still have a long way to go in the industry as I haven’t won any major awards yet, but please be mature and realise our industry is not big enough for us to be toxic.

“Why can’t we support each other instead? It does not benefit us or our industry if you choose to be snarky or sarcastic,” she added.

Critics had claimed Elly’s hosting technique, on the ninth season of GV, was over the top and an effort to steal the spotlight from other hosts.

The television personality said she would carry on with a positive attitude and would not change.

Ellys said she believed her hosting approach appealed to both the audience and GV producers.

The mother of two added that she was not upset or disappointed.
