Immigration ready for influx of visitors over long weekend, says DG

PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department has taken steps to handle the expected increase of visitors from Singapore over the Deepavali long weekend.

"(These include) opening manual counters, autogates and motorcycle lanes to ensure operations can be conducted at the highest levels," its director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 23).

He urged all those entering the country via the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) checkpoints in Johor Baru to cooperate with the authorities to ensure that document inspections proceed smoothly.

“Visitors are advised to ensure their travel documents and other papers are ready and valid to prevent any problems during inspection.

"Improper documents can lead to your entry being refused.

“We also urge cooperation from travel agencies to provide their list of travellers and number of tour buses, as agreed upon during a session at KSAB on Oct 12,” he added.
