Dr Wee visits Saravanan for Deepavali

PETALING JAYA: In the spirit of Deepavali, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong paid a visit to MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan’s home for the festivities on Monday (Oct 24).

"Thank you Saravanan for the hospitality and the array of scrumptious traditional treats served.

"I also had the pleasure of meeting up with old friends in a joyous and harmonious atmosphere," the MCA president said in a Facebook post Monday.

Accompanying Dr Wee were MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, International Trade and Industry (Miti) Deputy Minister and MCA vice-president Datuk Lim Ban Hong and MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong.

Also present at Saravanan’s home was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s wife Datin Seri Mohaini Zainal Abidin.

Earlier on Monday, Dr Wee had visited MIC president Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran's residence for Deepavali.

Dr Wee added that the country's uniqueness in diverse celebrations, such as Deepavali, should be preserved as a strength for generations to come.

"This is the uniqueness of our country where diversity is celebrated together with the spirit of the Malaysian Family.

"Visiting and celebrating festivals in Malaysia has also been a practice for all of us for a long time.

"It is hoped that it will continue to be the practice of the next generation. This heritage needs to be preserved forever because this is our uniqueness and strength," he said.
