PUPILS from SJK (T) Ladang Fortrose in Segamat, Johor, came in third in a national-level Malay drama competition, reported Malaysia Nanban.
The event, organised by Persatuan Seni Pentas Kuala Lumpur, was aimed at improving the command of the Malay language among Tamil school pupils as well as exposing them to the performing arts.
The 10-member team from the rural Segamat school, which has less than 50 pupils, also secured first place in the district-level competition with their stage play.
> The daily also highlighted a policewoman in Tamil Nadu, India, who helped a train passenger deliver her baby on board.
Coincidentally, the new mother, identified only as Shantini, was the wife of a railway station master and had been travelling to the hospital for a check-up with her husband.
As the train approached the station in Chennai, Shantini suddenly began to experience labour pains.
The policewoman on duty at that station, known only as Parameswari, quickly jumped into action.
