Johor MB: RM8mil allocated for 'Greater JB' agenda

JOHOR BARU: A total of RM8mil has been allocated by the Johor government to upgrade the public amenities here and the residential areas as part of the "Greater JB" agenda.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic) said that the state government has a long-term plan on how to better improve the living conditions of the people in the state besides providing job opportunities to the youth.

"Our agenda of developing Johor, particularly Johor Baru, is a very crucial plan that does not only require the participation of the state government, but our rakyat as well.

"We have to remember that besides competing with other states, Johor also has to compete with a developed nation that is located 700m away from the Causeway," he said.

He said this during a speech at a meet and greet session with the people and the launching ceremony of the Rent-To-Own Rumah Pangsapuri Seri Aman 1, Larkin here on Sunday (Oct 30).

Onn Hafiz added that this was important as Johor Baru is the heart of the state and every development made will be in line with the government's plan to turn Johor into a developed state by 2030.

"We have four million people living in Johor, and half of them live in Johor Baru. So that is why we need everyone's cooperation in making sure our plans are achieved," he said.

The RM8mil allocation covers the upgrading projects of Medan Niaga Kampung Melayu and Jalan Langkasuka Larkin; developing basketball courts; flood mitigation at Sungai Stulang, and improving the drainage system at Jalan Sentosa Kampung Datuk Onn and Jalan Kuning Taman Pelangi.
