KUCHING: PKR has dropped its incumbent Miri MP Dr Michael Teo as a candidate for the 15th General Election (GE15), with Sarawak party Youth chief Chiew Choon Man replacing him.
This was announced by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he unveiled the party's candidates in Miri on Tuesday (Nov 1).
PKR will field candidates in 16 parliamentary seats in Sarawak for the polls.
They include state PKR chairman Roland Engan, who will contest in Baram, and deputy chairman Abun Sui Anyit in Hulu Rajang.
"The Sarawak PKR line-up includes many new faces with various backgrounds and good experience in the field.
"They will need to work hard with their machinery to ensure that the people are aware of the agenda we are fighting for," Anwar said in a Facebook post after the announcement.
PKR will sit out of the Julau parliamentary seat, which was won by Datuk Larry Sng as an Independent candidate before joining the party shortly after GE14 in 2018.
However, Sng quit PKR last year and is now with Parti Bangsa Malaysia.
This means Pakatan Harapan will contest 30 of the 31 parliamentary seats in Sarawak, with DAP fielding eight candidates and Amanah six.
