KL JPJ auctions off over RM280,000 worth of vehicles

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 49 vehicles worth RM285,750 were auctioned off by the Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ).

KL JPJ director Mohd Zaki Ismail said 29 of the vehicles can be used on the road and be licensed while the remaining 20 vehicles were considered scrap.

"During the public auction, the highest bid received for a scrap vehicle was for a rigid tipper dumper lorry at RM17,100 while the highest bid for a vehicle that can be licensed was for a Nissan Fairlady 350Z at RM35,600," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 2).

It was the second time a public auction was conducted this year, he said.

"The first public auction was held in March, where 97 vehicles worth RM395,246 were auctioned off.

"With the second public auction, a total of RM680,996 worth of vehicles have been auctioned off this year," he said.

Mohd Zaki said only those who have purchased the auction documents and signed the documents to participate in the public auction were allowed to place their bids.

"Those with the highest bids for a vehicle are declared the winners.

"The price of the vehicles depended on the minimum price that had been set. The department has the right to withdraw any auctioned items if the price offered did not meet the set minimum price," he said.
