RADO has recently introduced the next chapter for its popular model, the DiaStar, a popular model that caused a sensation back in 1962 for its use of materials that were meant for tools.
The next chapter in the DiaStar success story, the DiaStar Original 60-Year Anniversary Edition, uses another of the brand’s preferred materials: Ceramos, which is a mix of ceramic and metal alloy.
This unique piece has been created in collaboration with Buenos Aires-born, Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli.
The brief was concise – to revisit the model with subtle but notable changes for its 60th anniversary, retaining the presence of its predecessor while incorporating the best and latest innovations.
Challenging the limits
When Rado first presented DiaStar at the watch fair in Basel, Switzerland in April 1962 the world was gripped with the bold design and use of material.
Yet this icon started its journey earlier with a simple idea of giving the world an accurate watch bound by lasting beauty.
It would have an individual, unmistakable design and an ultra-brilliant lustre.
After years of research and development, a lot of pioneering spirit and courage, Rado has perfected an item of truly special form and charisma: the world’s first scratch-proof watch.
This journey continues with this new DiaStar Original 60-Year-Anniversary model, framed by a radial-brushed Ceramos coiffe with polished angles.
Its detailing is set over a matching, monochrome stainless steel case, a sapphire crystal with hexagonal facets marks six decades since the original watch.
The Rado R764 automatic movement with 80 hours of power reserve ensures reliable and precise timekeeping.
Today this watch represents all that its predecessor did back in 1962 – dependability, lasting beauty and endless wearing pleasure.
DiaStar Original
The watch is available in both an Anniversary Edition, as well as a standard DiaStar Original model with a parallel-stripe-faceted sapphire crystal, polished and brushed H-link stainless-steel bracelet and a range of different exciting dial colours in blue, grey and green.
