Sibu to see three-cornered fight between incumbent and two new challengers


SIBU: The Sibu parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight between the incumbent and two new faces

Incumbent Oscar Ling (DAP) is fighting it out with Ting Ing Horh from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

Their candidacies were accepted by Returning Officer Khalid Andong at the Sibu Islamic Complex.

Ling' proposer is former Bukit Assek assemblyman Irene Change with Adeline Kiu as his seconder while Ting's proposer is Syed Hamzah and Ting Tien Huat is his seconder.

As for Wong, his proposer is Ting Hoong Hua and Datuk Lau Ung Hie is his seconder.

In the 14th General Election in 2018, Ling successfully retained the seat with a 11,422-vote majority in a four-cornered fight.

Ling collected 33,811 votes while BN-SUPP candidate Dato Andrew Wong Kee Yew polled 22,389 votes.
