PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional has pledged to amend the Federal Constitution and other related laws to uphold citizenship rights for children born to Malaysian women abroad as part of its 15th General Election manifesto, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Barisan chairman said in the spirit of inclusion, children who are born to mixed marriages or those from different ethnic or religious identities cannot be denied their right to make Malaysia as their country of origin.

"The awareness of and the value of loving the country comes from cohesion and inclusion," he said when launching the coalition manifesto in a livestream on Facebook on Monday (Nov 7).

Called "Padu", an acronym for "Perancangan Amal dan Usaha", the manifesto covers more than 10 core clusters such as the rising cost of living, political stability, healthcare, education, food security, environmental protection and initiatives to attract foreign investment.

Aside from that, Barisan pledged to establish an anti-sexual harassment tribunal and to conduct a needs assessment to establish a gender equality tribunal.
