GE15: PSB chides Sarawak DAP for its meagre contribution to state

SIBU: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has chided Sarawak DAP for not doing much for the state since coming here in 1978.

PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said this was why state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen predicted why the party would not fare well in GE15.

"I want to tell him 'jangan takut' (don't be scared)," Wong told a press conference on Tuesday (Nov 8).

"Let's fight it out and let the people have the final say."

The day before, Chong said PSB should withdraw from GE15 because it "will not become a kingmaker by just winning one or two parliamentary seats."

Chong described PSB as playing a "spoiler" role in GE15, being there just to split votes.

Wong, who is contesting the Sibu seat, said Chong never had anything good to say about PSB.

"At one time, he ridiculed us, saying we would be wiped out and disappear. In the end, we won more seats than DAP.

"Now he is asking us to withdraw from GE15. Is he scared?" Wong asked.

In December's state polls, PSB won four seats and DAP, two.

Wong also said DAP had not contributed to Sarawak's development since coming to the state in 1978.

"Go back (to Peninsular Malaysia) and let Sarawakians rule themselves," he said.

PSB and its GE15 partner Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) are contesting in six seats that clash with DAP.

Aside from Sibu, the others are Lanang, Stampin, Kuching, Serian and Mas Gading.
