FOLLOWING popular demand, Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai promised that she will perform Pirates, a song composed by ex-boyfriend and King of Mandopop Jay Chou, in her upcoming concert, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Tsai had forgotten the lyrics to Pirates, which was the first single in her 2004 album Castle, during multiple live performances.
“Is it Pirates? I’ll play it for you later as I have forgotten the lyrics!” she said during a concert in 2021 when a fan asked for the song.
However, recently, it seems that Tsai is determined to rehearse and perform it for her upcoming tour next month after she wrote about the song on social media.
“I must have drank Meng Po’s soup (of forgetfulness) while recording Pirates,” she said in a recent Facebook post.
Tsai and Chou dated early in 2000. But their relationship turned icy after the break-up in 2005.
However, they became friends again after Chou invited Tsai to perform as a special guest in one of his concerts in 2010.
Chou is now married to actress-model Hannah Quinlivan and the two have three children.
Tsai, who is dubbed the Queen of C-Pop, is the best-selling Taiwanese female recording artiste of all time.
> Just days after getting married, Taiwanese Internet celebrity Ili Cheng is accused of tax evasion after court documents revealed that she bought a TW$60mil (RM8.9mil) property, reported China Press. The 29-year-old apparently bought the property despite having reported annual earnings of TW$240,000 (RM35,594) in 2021.
Cheng explained on social media that she bought the property with some of her relatives but it was sold three months later.
She added that upon the sale, she had to pay a capital gains tax of TW$780,000 (RM115,618) – proof that she was not evading tax.
