Two Nepali men nabbed for attack on election campaign officer


PETALING JAYA: Two Nepali men have been detained for allegedly attacking a member of an election campaign enforcement team here.

The officer was attacked while he was trying to break up a fight involving a group of four Nepali men at about 11.15pm on Monday (Nov 7).

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the officer and his team were conducting inspections on political parties' flags in the area when they stumbled upon the fight at Jalan SS2/63 here.

"While he was trying to stop the fight, the officer was attacked by two men. He was injured and his communications equipment was also damaged," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Nov 8).

Police detained the two men, in their 20s, at the scene.

"They will be remanded for further investigation," ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said, and advised the people to always adhere to the law without resorting to criminal acts.
