GE15: Cops approve over 1,000 permits for ceramah nationwide


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,037 permits for political ceramah were approved for the 15th General Election (GE15) nationwide on Friday (Nov 11).

Bukit Aman GE15 operations director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said 432 talks were held without permits.

"Most political talks with permits were held in Kedah (173), followed by Negri Sembilan (172), Perak (155) and Selangor (147).

"For political talks without permits, the most was in Sabah with 435 ceramah," he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 12).

Police also opened 14 investigation papers (IPs) for various offences during the campaigning period, Comm Hazani said.

"Among the cases reported were six incidents of flags and posters of political parties being vandalised. The vandalism cases were reported in Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak and Terengganu," he said.

Two arrests were also made on Friday, he added.
