KUCHING: Early voting for police personnel proceeded smoothly on Tuesday (Nov 15), with 830 individuals casting their ballots at the Sarawak police headquarters here.
State police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said they were among 8,050 personnel eligible for early voting in Sarawak, making up 82% of the force there.
"They include senior officers and men along with their spouses, as well as 412 General Operations Force personnel.
"They will cast their ballots at 55 early voting centres statewide," he told reporters after inspecting the early voting process at the officers' mess.
Comm Azman also said 1,821 police personnel in Sarawak were eligible for postal voting, which began after nomination day on Nov 5.
On the election campaign in Sarawak, he said police had received 48 reports since Nov 5, including eight lodged on Monday (Nov 14).
"Most of the complaints involve damaging flags or posters and do not pose a threat to public security," he said.
He advised the public and political parties to comply with the law to ensure a smooth election.
