Cops arrest three for fighting outside George Town entertainment outlet

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested three men aged between 29 to 31 years old for fighting outside an entertainment outlet in Love Lane.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said police received a report from the public about the fight before making the arrests at about 3.05am on Nov 13.

"The three suspects who are locals and believed to have been drunk had acted aggressively that led to a scuffle with police during the arrest.

"Although all three had no past criminal record, one of them tested positive for drug abuse.

"They have been remanded for three days to facilitate investigations under Section 148 of Penal Code for rioting with weapons. All three have been released on police bail," he said.

ACP Soffian added that videos of the incident have since gone viral and urged the public to not speculate while the case was being investigated.
