HULU TERENGGANU: Perikatan Nasional candidate for Hulu Terengganu Datuk Rosol Wahid affirms that they are adequately prepared should there be floods in the last few days of the campaigning period and polling day for the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said volunteers and the relevant authorities were prepared and they had stocked up on basic food supplies to be ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
"People's lives are more important (than campaigning).
"If the weather worsens and floods occur, the campaign will no longer be my priority.
"I remember the words of the elders, 'in this world you can try everything but don't try to deal with death because you only die once'," he said at a press conference in Kampung Pauh, here, on Wednesday (Nov 16).
On another matter, Rosol said younger voters were more prone to vote for their candidate of choice instead of being loyal towards a political party.
"There are those who vote for a personality and there are those who vote for the party.
"Usually those who vote based on the candidates are the young voters.
"They know the current issues both inside and outside the country and can think of what's right and wrong for them so they choose the candidate," he said.
He added that the veterans were most likely to vote for their political parties of choice as they were loyal to the party.
Rosol, who is a Bersatu member contesting under the PAS banner, will be facing a four-cornered fight on Saturday (Nov 19).
He will be up against Datuk Rozi Mamat (Barisan Nasional), Alias Ismail (Pakatan Harapan) and Mohd Khadri Abdullah (Parti Pejuang Tanah Air).
In GE14, Rosol, who is the incumbent MP, won the Hulu Terengganu seat on a Barisan ticket with a 2,868-vote majority after obtaining 30,925 votes.
