MARANG: PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang calls on Malaysians to vote, as it is an obligation for Muslims.

"I call on all Muslim and non-Muslim voters to vote. For Muslims, voting is wajib (obligatory) because choosing a leader in Islam is wajib.

"We can't miss it (voting). Non-Muslims should also fulfil their responsibilities as citizens to elect their leaders," he said to reporters after casting his vote at SK Rusila, here on Saturday (Nov 19).

He added that he is hopeful that the voter turnout percentage will increase with the sunny weather.

"I hope that we can keep the peaceful atmosphere, regardless of the results of the election," he said.

Abdul Hadi was seen casting his vote at 9.00am alongside his wife, Toh Puan Sri Zainab Awang Ngah.

A total of 131,744 voters will be voting in the Marang parliamentary constituency.

It will be a four-cornered fight as Abdul Hadi aims to retain his seat in Marang. He will go against Jasmira Othman (Barisan Nasional) Dr Zarawi Sulong (Parti Pejuang Tanah Air) and Azhar Ab Shukur (Pakatan Harapan).
