GE15: Barisan's Tan Chee Hiong casts vote for Alor Setar parliamentary seat


ALOR SETAR : Barisan Nasional's Tan Chee Hiong (pic) has cast his vote in the 15th General Election (GE15) at SJK (C) Peng Min here on Saturday (Nov 19) morning.

The candidate was among the early birds at the polling centre and arrived sharp at 8am with his two aides.

He spent about 10 minutes at the centre to cast his vote for the Alor Setar parliamentary seat before leaving.

When met by reporters outside the school ,Tan said every candidate contesting for the parliamentary seat conducted a matured political campaign.

"This is a good sign for a healthy democracy for our country,"he said.

Tan is facing a seven-cornered fight against Perikatan Nasional's Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddin, Datuk Mohamad Nuhairi Rahmat of Pejuang, Datuk Fadzil Hanafi from Warisan, Pakatan Harapan's Simon Ooi and independent candidates are former state Works Department director Datuk Nordin Yunus and former civil servant Sofan Feroza Md Yusup.

Meanwhile, 74-year-old Marzuki Nan, his 71-year-old wife Che Kama Md Isa and their 47-year-old son Mohd Sobri Marzuki were also in the queue to vote.

Marzuki said he has been voting for the past 40 years in the constituency.

"All of us have exercised our rights as Malaysians," he said.
