Barisan Nasional - especially Umno - is the kingmaker in a situation where coalitions and parties get to form the next Federal government.
The two big coalitions are Pakatan Harapan with 82 seats and Perikatan Nasional with 73 seats.

If Pakatan gets the magic number of 112 - out of 222 seats - its chairman and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to be Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister.
If Perikatan cobbles up the numbers, its chairman and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be Prime Minister again.
Pakatan's 82 and Barisan's 30 seats are exactly 112, while Perikatan's 73 seats along with the 22 of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the six of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) total to 101.

This morning, Pagoh MP Muhyiddin shared on his Facebook page a photograph of him meeting with PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang and GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.
The political optics arethat Perikatan - which consists of Bersatu, PAS, Sabah Star, SAPP and Gerakan - are with GPS.
GRS is with Muhyiddin as it is made up of its Sabah chapter Bersatu, Sabah Star, Parti Bersatu Sabah, SAPP and Usno.
Missing in the photograph is Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zaid Hamidi with the unsaid element being that Umno is still not solidly behind the proposed Muhyiddin-led coalition government.

Muhyiddin will need the 30 MPs from Barisan, comprising Umno, MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, to form the government.
Right now, Umno is in two minds.
Team Zahid is leaning towards a coalition government with Anwar and Pakatan Harapan. Team pecat Zahid - which means to sack Zahid as Umno president - wants to be allied with the Perikatan, GPS and GRS government.
The momentum to push Ahmad Zahid out as Umno president and Barisan chairman is building up in the party, with Johor Umno taking the lead. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called for Ahmad Zahid's immediate resignation as coalition chairman in light of Barisan's performance in the 15th General Election (GE15).

If Team pecat Zahid succeeds, Barisan will support the Muhyiddin-led government of coalitions and parties. But if Team Zahid prevails, Malaysia will see the unexpected happening - a coalition government between Pakatan and Barisan.
Around 1 pm today, Umno state leaders arrived for the party's political bureau meeting at Menara Dato Onn at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Some of them have an axe to grind with Zahid - who many blame for Barisan's near-disaster outing.
The irony is that Pakatan, who campaigned on the "vote for BN is a vote for Zahid" slogan might now have to pray that the Umno president will support Anwar for PM.
Umno has to decide by tomorrow who it will support - Anwar or Muhyiddin - as the Prime Minister.
Istana Negara has said it that met with Election commission chief Abdul Ghani Salleh following the general election held yesterday, resulting in a hung Parliament. By 2 pm tomorrow, coalitions have to put up PM candidate.
