GE15: Pakatan’s Alice Lau retains Lanang seat


SIBU: Alice Lau (Pakatan Harapan-DAP) defended her Lanang seat with a majority of 11,544 votes in the 15th General Election.

Lau polled 30,120 votes against Wong Ching Yong (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) who won 18,576 votes, followed by Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s Prescilla Lau (3,683) and

Independent Datuk Wong Tiing Kiong (587).

A total of 52,946 people cast their votes.

The results were announced by returning officer Teng Min Min at the Methodist SMK Hall at 11.15pm on Saturday (Nov 19).

Alice, who arrived at the centre as early as 8.40pm with her family members, described her victory this time as a victory for the people.

"Thank you to all the voters who gave me solid support. I promise to serve to the best of my ability and will not neglect the people's mandate," she added.
