PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan's Rafizi Ramli will return as Pandan MP for another term after securing a landslide victory on Saturday (Nov 19).
Rafizi secured a 48,296 majority from a 78.31% turnout on Saturday (Nov 19), defeating Perikatan Nasional’s candidate Muhammad Farique Zubir (25,706 votes), and Barisan Nasional's Leong Kok Wee (11,664).
The remaining two candidates - Warisan's Ong Tee Keat and Pejuang's Nadia Hanafiah - received 3,323 and 961 votes, respectively, and lost their deposit.
Rafizi, 45, was not present at the Pandan counting centre.
Pandan PKR vice-chairman J. Viknesvaran, who informed Rafizi of the victory, thanked voters for the mandate.
"They braved the rain in the morning to support our candidate and we are thankful for their support."
He added that plans are in place to ensure community issues are looked into and harmony is maintained.
Returning officer Julailah Jamaludin who made the official announcement at 11.20pm said that there were 606 rejected votes and 214 unreturned votes.
The Pandan parliamentary constituency will continue under PKR for another term after Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail won the seat in GE14.
