GE15: BN seeking extension to 2pm deadline, says Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament must follow the decision of its supreme council on the formation of government, says coalition chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid told a press conference at the Seri Pacific Hotel with 26 other Barisan MPs here on Monday (Nov 21) that this was because they had contested on the Barisan ticket.

He said a decision would be made after negotiations with other parties, adding that a committee has been set up to take part in any talks.

Zahid also said that any statutory declarations signed by the coalition's MPs were invalid.

Barisan was also seeking an extension of time from Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun to convey its decision on the formation of government, ahead of the 2pm deadline.

Zahid added that the Jelebu and Kuala Pilah MPs were absent as they were unwell.

However, Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein was also not seen.
