Royals and party leaders congratulate Anwar


PETALING JAYA: Congratulatory messages poured in from royals and leaders from both sides of the political divide for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after his appointment as Prime Minister.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim were among the first to do so. “Congratulations YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim upon his appointment as (the) 10th Malaysian Prime Minister,” Tunku Ismail said in a Facebook post. Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob congratulated his successor and extended his appreciation to the King for Anwar’s appointment.

“Many congratulations to YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on this appointment,” he said in a statement.“I pray the new government will be able to continue political stability and preserve economic stability.

” Ismail Sabri also thanked his “Keluarga Malaysia” and civil servants for their support during his time in office, especially in overcoming challenges and ensuring that Malaysia was on the right track for political and economic recovery.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also sent out a congratulatory message to Anwar. “Congratulations to the YAB PM10! (It is) A huge responsibility to shoulder.

May we, with the leadership of this new PM, eradicate vengeance politics and prevent any disunity in our multi-racial society,” he said in a Facebook post. He said moderation and celebrationg diversity should be the direction going forward.

“May Malaysia move towards stability and prosperity,” he added.

From the Perikatan Nasional side, PAS youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari extended a brief congratulatory message on Facebook. Anwar’s Pakatan colleagues were obviously happy.

DAP national organising secretary and Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim lauded the “son of Bukit Mertajam” for making his hometown folk proud.

“Hails from Bukit Mertajam, the son of Cerok To’kun, BM High School Boy.

We people of BM are proud and touched,” he said in a Facebook post with a pencil sketch of Anwar’s portrait, which he drew in 2017 while the latter was in jail.

Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Datuk Salahuddin Ayub said, “Alhamdulilah.

The government formed will focus on economic recovery and the welfare of the people, InsyaAllah.

” Muda secretary-general Amir Abd Hadi said it had been a long journey with scars and tears. “No words can emote the happiness and gratitude we feel.

Muda shares this happiness and will continue to work together to build our beloved country. Salute,” he said.
