Cabinet must be free of MPs with court cases, says Nik Nazmi

PETALING JAYA: Anyone with pending court cases should not be in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (pic).

The Setiawangsa MP said it does not matter if no verdict has been reached in their cases yet, as leaving them out would prevent issues in the future.

"The public remains concerned about corruption cases involving politicians and a Cabinet free of these individuals would put such fears to rest," Sinar Harian quoted Nik Nazmi as saying on Saturday (Nov 26).

He said capability alone should not be the criteria to hold Cabinet posts as there were other considerations.

MPs with pending court cases include Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

The unity government at the moment comprises Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, Muda, Warisan, Parti Bangsa Malaysia and independents.
