Saifuddin says will leave it to cops to probe Kedah MB’s statement over money politics

PUTRAJAYA: The police will be given the freedom investigate a statement by Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor on alleged money politics, if there is a basis to do so, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

"I am confident of the professionalism of the police force. I will leave to (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani and his team to do the necessary.

"I will give the police freedom and space (to investigate) based on the merit of a report or a complaint," the Home Minister told reporters after clocking in at the ministry's headquarters on Tuesday (Dec 6).

It was reported that Sanusi had allegedly described voters as being stupid and an embarrassment for wanting to return to vote.

Sanusi, who is also Kedah Perikatan Nasional chief, was seen in a campaign video posted on TikTok, saying that some voters resorted to sulking online when they didn't get the allowance for voting.
