PETALING JAYA: Despite the huge responsibility that lies ahead, newly-appointed Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim is looking to hit the ground running under his new role.
“I am grateful for the opportunity but it also comes with a huge responsibility as Malaysia is (currently) at a unique crossroads following the 15th General Election (GE15).
“GE15 also showed the importance of youth participation in democracy, alongside how they can play their role in nation building,” he told The Star on Saturday (Dec 10).
The Hang Tuah Jaya MP also echoed Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who was quoted as saying that athletes could continue with existing programmes, noting how it would be difficult if the ministry kept changing directions.
“Similarly, I also do not think now is the time (for the ministry) to be experimenting or changing directions. Most importantly, we must ensure all programmes, directions and policies are implemented fairly and responsibly,” Adam Adli said.
Adam Adli, a first-term PKR MP, was one of the 27 deputy ministers announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday (Dec 9).
