GEORGE TOWN: Seeking new opportunities or looking for work as a fresh graduate can be daunting, but the myStarJob Fair 2022 has you covered.
The job fair being held in Penang for the first time has a diverse range of job and career options.
Uniqlo Malaysia has a manager-candidate programme that offers those selected an opportunity to grow with the company.
Its human resources director Mabel Lee said candidates could ascend from store manager to area manager to department head and eventually helm the scene as chief operating officer.
“We prefer to organically grow our own talent.
“Many want to join this programme as we send people out to other countries, some to Thailand, Canada, India and other places, even as store managers,” she said.
Lee said candidates needed a degree from a local or overseas programme.
“We do not base it on what they studied but on their potential as business leaders,” she said.
B. Braun human resources general manager Balasubramanian Thevarayan said in Penang, B. Braun Medical Industries (BMI) was established in 1972.
“With over 7,500 employees, the Penang site has three manufacturing plants that produce intravenous catheters, hypodermic needles, special needles, elastomeric pumps, surgical instruments and pharmaceutical solutions.
“Penang is also our regional headquarters for Asia-Pacific.
“This fair is the perfect platform to showcase what B. Braun has to offer graduates as well as experienced talents.
“We are always on the lookout for the right talents that are driven by an entrepreneurial spirit to create smart and sustainable healthcare solutions,” he said.
He said B. Braun braved the challenges of the pandemic and remained resilient, avoiding layoffs and continually investing in talent.
“Our employees can look forward to continuous growth in their careers,” he said.
FairWork, a human resources solutions company, is offering job prospects all around Malaysia as well as overseas.
Its managing director Louis Looi said they offer free advice on job recruitment and requirements.
“We work with many industries, including manufacturing, logistics and retail, where we help them find suitable candidates.
“We have plenty of candidates, and we help them to be placed based on their wants, helping them find their dream jobs with our job matching system,” he said.
Bosch Malaysia is offering jobs in their four plants in Penang as well as their office in Kuala Lumpur.
Bosch Power Tools Engineering project manager Lim Han Chou said they were looking for candidates who were curious and passionate, especially from an engineering point of view.
“For an engineer to achieve a breakthrough in technology, curiosity is the most important asset.
“We want those who are not afraid of making mistakes because engineering is all about making mistakes, improving and then making mistakes again.
“Eventually, this will lead to a breakthrough,” he said.
