KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of continuous heavy rain in several districts in Kelantan and Terengganu until Monday (Dec 12).
It said in a statement Sunday (Dec 11) that the areas affected in Kelantan are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh.
Continuous rain warning is also expected in Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang in Kelantan until tomorrow.
The Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) issued a notice for the possibility of flash floods within 24 hours in several areas in Johor, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Melaka, Pahang and Perak due to heavy rain or thunderstorms.
In Johor, the areas affected are Mukim Api-Api, Mukim Ayer Baloi, Mukim Ayer Masin, Mukim Benut, Mukim Pontian, Mukim Rimba Terjun, Mukim Sungai Pinggan in the Pontian district and surrounding areas.
In Negri Sembilan, the area affected is Port Dickson.
In Selangor, the areas involved are the sub-districts of Sepang (Mukim Sepang, Mukim Dengkil and surrounding areas) and Petaling (Batu Tiga, Bandar Shah Alam and surrounding areas); Kuantan district (Bandar Kuantan, Kuala Kuantan, Sungai Karang and surrounding areas), Lipis (Telang and surrounding areas) and Jerantut (Tawar, Hulu Cheka and surrounding areas) in Pahang.
In Perak, the areas include the sub-districts of Larut, Matang and Selama (Mukim Bukit Gantang, Mukim Sungai Limau, Mukim Pengkalan Aor, Mukim Jebong, Mukim Asam Kumbang and surrounding areas); and Kerian (Mukim Bagan Serai, Mukim Gunong Semanggol, Mukim Beriah, Mukim Kuala Kurau, Mukim Parit Buntar and surrounding areas).
According to the statement, the notice was issued to enable all residents, especially in areas at risk, to be aware of any possibility of flash floods.
