ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is looking into improving its online complaint system to make it easier for the public to channel complaints and reports.
Its Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub(pic) said he will discuss it with officers and experts from the ministry before moving the idea forward.
“There are many advanced applications that could be used to make it easier for the public to channel their complaints. We could probably make use of these technologies to improve the system.
“If we could improve the e-aduan (online complaint) system, consumers would not have to travel all the way to KPDN’s office just to file a complaint,” he said in a press conference after the state assembly sitting here.
This comes after the minister, who is also Pulai MP, made a surprise visit to the Johor KPDN office on Sunday (Dec 11) after an audience with Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
Salahuddin said that during his visit, he met a consumer who came all the way from Kluang to Johor Baru to file a complaint.
“I made an unofficial visit to the Johor KPDN office to look at the situation on the ground and just by chance, I met a person who wanted to file a complaint. I spoke to the consumer as well as the officer taking the report.
“I also took note of a few things that could be done to speed up the process, and this includes updating the e-aduan system,” he said, adding that there is also a need to increase the number of volunteers under the ministry.
He said he would continue to conduct sudden checks at markets and grocery stores to check on the supply of critical items such as eggs and cooking oil.
On his audience with the Sultan, Salahuddin said that he was grateful that the Palace was quick to grant his wish to have an audience with the Ruler.
“This is my first courtesy visit to the Johor Sultan and I did not expect the two-hour meeting to be held in such a casual manner yet also focused.
“We spoke about my ministry as well as some political issues. He also gave a lot of advice on the four ministers from Johor and his hopes for us to help boost the state’s economy,” he said.
