ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state legislative assembly congratulated Simpang Jeram assemblyman Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on his appointment as minister and Perling assemblyman Liew Chin Tong as deputy minister.
Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi brought up the matter before the question and answer session during the state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail, Kota Iskandar, here.
Salahuddin, who is also Pulai MP, was appointed as Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister while Liew, who is Iskandar Puteri MP, was appointed as Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister.
"This honourable state assembly would like to congratulate Simpang Jeram assemblyman and Perling assemblyman on their appointment to cabinet posts and wish them all the best," said Mohd Puad, who is also Rengit state assemblyman.
In the recent 15th general election (GE15), Salahuddin, who is also Amanah deputy president, won the Pulai parliamentary seat with a majority of 33,174 votes defeating Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed (BN-Umno) and Loh Kah Yong (PN-Gerakan).
Liew, who is also Johor DAP chairman, won the Iskandar Puteri parliamentary seat with a 60,036-vote majority against Tan Nam Cha (PN-Bersatu) and Datuk Jason Teoh Sew Hock (BN-MCA). - Bernama
