Claims of reps wanting to quit meant to undermine Warisan, says Shafie

Warisan's supreme council and assemblymen have reiterated their support for the party amid claims some were ready to cross the floor.

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan has emphasised that it remains intact, amid claims that some assemblymen were about to quit the party.

Its president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the allegations, made on social media recently, were false and intended to create confusion.

Following the swirling claims, the former Sabah chief minister said Warisan held a supreme council meeting, with its elected representatives also in attendance, at its headquarters here on Tuesday (Dec 13) morning.

"The party is intact and allegations of party hopping from our state assemblymen are untrue," Mohd Shafie said in a statement.

"(These) rumours and claims... have resurfaced again as another malicious attempt to undermine Warisan.

"All the assemblymen have reiterated their allegiance to the party," he added.

It is understood that the assemblymen for Kunak (Norazlinah Arif) and Karamunting (George Hiew) were not present at the meeting due to personal commitments but also pledged their loyalty to Warisan.

Mohd Shafie said the party’s supreme council and elected representatives also unanimously pledged support to the federal unity government and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the Prime Minister.

Earlier on Tuesday (Dec 13), Warisan’s Darau assemblyman Azhar Matussin denied claims on social media that he was ditching the party along with six other assemblymen.

Azhar said the claims did not make sense and were deliberately played up to confuse the people.
