Penang woman hurt in LPG tank explosion

BUTTERWORTH: A 26-year-old woman was injured after a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank exploded at her house in Taman Sena Permai, Pokok Sena early Tuesday (Dec 13).

Tasek Gelugor fire station operations officer Mohamad Hazam Hassan said a distress call was received at 8.13am.

"Upon arriving at the scene, we found the victim had been brought to safety by neighbours," he said.

He added that the explosion damaged most of the structure of the two-storey house, as well as a car and motorcycle outside.

It is learned that the victim lived there with her brother and his wife.

The woman was sent to Hospital Kepala Batas for treatment and the cause of the explosion was still being looked into, Mohamad Hazam added.
