PETALING JAYA: The number of flood evacuees has dropped in Pahang and Terengganu, while those in Perak, Kelantan and Johor remain unchanged as of Wednesday (Dec 14) morning.
In PAHANG, the number of evacuees dropped to 387 people in the morning compared to 435 on Tuesday (Dec 13) night, with 210 of them taking shelter at a relief centre in Temerloh, Pekan (142 evacuees) and Bera (two centres, 35 evacuees).
The state Disaster Management Secretariat said the water level of Sungai Triang in Bera is still at danger level while five rivers – Sungai Pahang in Lubuk Paku and Sungai Luit in Kampung Subuh, Maran; Sungai Pahang in Paloh Hinai, Pekan; Sungai Belat in Kuantan and Sungai Keratong in Rompin – are at warning level.
Based on the weather forecast by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, a thunderstorm is predicted in Temerloh and Bera in the evening, and rain in the morning in Pekan.
In TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees dropped to 69 from 22 families Wednesday morning from 80 (24 families) the night before. They are being housed at relief centres in Kuala Terengganu (55), Besut (12) and Setiu (two).
In Pasir Mas, KELANTAN, the number of flood evacuees in the morning remained unchanged from 2,018 people from 635 families the night before, with all of them being housed at seven relief centres, namely SK Tok Deh (712 evacuees), SK Kedai Tanjong (47), SK Gual Periok (544), Masjid Mukim Padang Licin (73), PPS Putat Tujoh (157), SK Kubang Kual (251) and SK Sri Kiambang (234).
In PERAK, the number of evacuees remained at 147 from 39 families, housed at four relief centres, namely SMK Abd Rahman Talib (SMART) in Hilir Perak; Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai, Manjung; Dewan SK Slim River, Mualim and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Tersusun Teluk Memali in Perak Tengah.
In JOHOR, the number of evacuees remained at 51 as at 8am with Segamat being the only district affected. – Bernama
