A MAN in Pendang, Kedah, sacrificed his desire to find a spouse and a career in Kuala Lumpur to return home to take care of his ill parents, reported Harian Metro.

Mohd Yusri Haiqal Mohd Yusop, 32, quit his factory job in Penang in 2016 to return to his village in Kampung Chegar in Kuala Mawa to take care of his parents whose health started to worsen.

His father Mohd Yusop Sulaiman, 62, became bedridden in 2017 after suffering from a stroke while his mother Mahani Saleh, 57, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2020.

Yusri Haqal said he has to care for his parents while earning a meagre wage as a part-time mechanic as he is an only child.

“Sometimes, I break down and cry thinking about the poor health of my parents. I said to myself that this is a test from God that I have to endure,” he added.

Mahani understands the difficulty that her son is facing.

“I hope my son will meet his soulmate one day after my husband and I fully recover,” she said.

The family receives monthly assistance from the Social Welfare Department, but she said that it was still not enough to support their family’s needs.

> Popular Suria FM host and comedian Shuib Sepahtu has denied claims that he is planning to marry entrepreneur Watie Hanafiah soon, reported Kosmo! He said he was worried that these claims of him starting a new family with Watie might cause his family and children to feel abandoned.

“There have been plenty of allegations that I have ordered catering, wedding clothes and so on. But the truth is that there is nothing so far.

“I really dislike it when things that I have never said end up everywhere online. This will make my children feel as if I had left them in the dark,” he said, adding that he and Watie are only close friends.

Shuib said both his children and mother are comfortable with Watie and that it is a great start to her relationship with his family.
