Police-FBI tie-up leads to arrest of Klang man for child porn

KUALA LUMPUR: A 39-year-old man has been detained for allegedly possessing child pornography in his computer.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the man was detained by the Bukit Aman CID Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division (D11) following a raid at his home in Klang on Tuesday (Dec 13).

"The suspect is believed to have communicated with several children and even downloaded child pornography via social media," she said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 15).

The suspect has been remanded until Saturday (Dec 17), she said.

"The arrest was possible due to close cooperation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)," she said.

The case is being investigated under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 292 of the Penal Code, DCP Noorsiah said.

"We are investigating further to identify the victims involved in the case," she added.
