Batang Kali landslide: Women’s ministry to provide aid for victims, says Nancy


PETALING JAYA: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will ensure that all victims of the Batang Kali landslide receive the aid that they need and see to it that their welfare is taken care of.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said, in a statement, that she had instructed deputy minister Aiman Athirah Sabu and the ministry staff to look into the matter.

"I was deeply saddened to hear the news about the landslide in Batang Kali this morning (Dec 16). "I have instructed the deputy minister and our officers to make sure that any aid that is needed by the victims is extended to them. I hope that the victims and their families can remain strong through this difficult time," she said.

So far, the landslide at a campsite near the Father’s Organic Farm, Gohtong Jaya, Batang Kali has claimed 19 lives and more that 50 victims are receiving treatment.
