Batang Kali landslide: Nadma releases names of six dead victims identified by next of kin


KUALA LUMPUR: Six of the 23 bodies recovered from the landslide location at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, near here, on Friday (Dec 16) have been identified as of 7am Saturday (Dec 15).

The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) said their identities were confirmed by next of kin through an identification process or the "finger printing" test.

The post-mortem and identification process for the other bodies were still being conducted, it said in a statement Saturday.

Four of those injured in the landslide are being treated at Selayang Hospital, one was admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital and three were discharged on Friday after getting treatment at Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital.

The six dead victims identified are Lim Wei Xin, Hong Mei Jing, Nurul Azmani, Lai Lee Yin, Lai Lee Koo and nine-year-old boy Tong Kai.

The four victims still warded in Selayang Hospital have been identified as Yam Lee Yan, 41; Tan Ei Ein, 43; Choo Wai Lun, 34; and Loh Teng Shui, 44; while 19-year-old Ling Zi Xuan is still warded in Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

"Information on the latest developments concerning victims of the tragedy will be announced from time to time after being verified by the agencies responsible,” it said.

In the landslide at 2.42am Friday, a section of a slope measuring 300m long and 70m high came crashing down onto the campsite.

As of Saturday afternoon, 23 people have been confirmed killed in the landslide, 10 are still missing and 61 were rescued. - BERNAMA
