KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Heng Seai Kie’s term as Wanita MCA chief will end on Dec 19 and her deputy chief Wong You Fong will take the reins as acting chief.
Heng said she believes that the handing over of duties will go smoothly, as Wong’s position in the party will be replaced by others.
She began her term of office on Dec 20, 2013 and will expire on Dec 19, this year.
According to Article 40 of the party's Constitution, no person shall hold the president's office for more than nine years from the date a person assumes office.
Heng said this after attending the 47th Wanita MCA annual general meeting (AGM).
This year, the MCA general assembly will be held behind closed doors to focus on its post-15th General Election (GE15) performance evaluation.
MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon had said following the recent conclusion of GE15, the 69th MCA AGM, 58th MCA Youth AGM and 47th Wanita MCA AGM would be held behind closed doors on Dec 17 and 18.
