KUALA TERENGGANU: Main routes connecting Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang are still passable despite the floods, says Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa.
Rohaimi said the roads connecting the two east coast states with Terengganu including the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT 2) and Jalan Pantai from Kemaman to Besut were still passable as of 8pm Sunday (Dec 18).
He said so far, only a few roads in three districts, namely Setiu, Dungun and Besut were impassable after being flooded since 8am today.
"In Setiu, the road stretch that cannot be passed is KM67-68 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru which is near the Kampung Balik Bukit Petronas station and is closed to light vehicles.
"Motorists can use alternative routes, namely via Jalan Batu Rakit-Pantai Penarik-Saujana-Kuala Besut-Tok Bali-Bachok," he said in a statement.
According to Rohaimi, the Padang Luas-Bukit Yong route in the Besut district is closed to all types of vehicles and motorists can use Jalan Pantai Kuala Besut-Tok Bali-Bachok as an alternative.
"In Dungun, the route involved is KM76 of Jalan Jerangau-Jabor near the Bukit Besi Road Transport Department weigh station. As an alternative, road users can use the Paka Toll-LPT 2-Bukit Besi toll route," he said, while urging motorists to plan their journeys and use alternative routes. - Bernama
