Three men suffocate to death while working on underground telecommunications cable in Cyberjaya


PETALING JAYA: Three foreign workers are believed to have suffocated to death while working on underground telecommunications cables at Taman Sains Selangor 2, Cyberjaya.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datul Norazam Khamis said the incident occurred at around 3.17pm on Monday (Dec 19).

"We received a distress call and dispatched one fire engine, eight personnel and an emergency medical rescue services vehicle to the scene.

"They arrived at around 3.24pm and found the three men who were working on underground telecommunications cables at a depth of five metres when they became unconscious," he said when contacted on Monday.

He said the three men were hoisted up by Fire and Rescue Department personnel and were pronounced dead at the scene.

"The bodies have been sent to the Serdang Hospital for post mortem.

"The cause of death has yet to be confirmed," he said.
