Bomba rescuers continue to work tirelessly

BATANG KALI: Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department personnel involved in the operation in search of the missing victims in the deadly landslide here remained highly motivated in carrying out their duties.

Its director-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Hamdan Wahid said all the rescuers were in good spirits and doing their best to locate the remaining nine victims.

“Alhamdulillah, all of them remain focused on carrying out their task. They are working tirelessly and are highly dedicated,” he told Bernama.

The department’s Selangor director Datuk Norazam Khamis said a total of 130 officers and personnel were assigned to the search and rescue (SAR) operation on a rotational basis.

Yesterday, six dogs from the K9 dog detection unit were brought to the site at 8.30am, as the SAR operation for the landslide victims entered its fourth day.

The operation was suspended at about 9.30pm on Sunday due to unfavourable weather conditions.

As of now, a total of 24 victims have been confirmed dead in the tragedy involving a total of 94 people, while 61 have been rescued.
