Minute’s silence for landslide victims


We will not forget: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim alongside his deputies Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, and other leaders holding up their hands in prayer for those lost to the tragedy in Batang Kali. KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat observed a moment of silence for the victims of the Dec 16 Batang Kali disaster.

In expressing condolences to the victims’ next of kin, newly-appointed Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul asked MPs to say a prayer and observe a minute of silence for those who perished.

He hoped that the families would remain strong through this ordeal.

Johari thanked all the agencies involved in the search and rescue mission.

As at yesterday, 24 victims were confirmed killed in the landslide, with nine more still missing.
